Sponsorship
Sponsor a place
Support independent writing about a World Heritage site, a country, a region or a theme, and reach the travellers who are planning their visit.
What sponsorship includes
- A small “Supported by” mark near the top of the page, and a banner at the foot of it with your name, a short line and a link. It is always labelled “Sponsor”, and the link is marked as sponsored.
- One sponsor per page. The banner shows while the sponsorship is active, and afterwards the page returns to the default invitation.
What you can sponsor
- A site
- One World Heritage site's page.
- A theme
- A theme such as “Coasts, reefs and islands”: its page, and a mark on every site page in the theme that has no sponsor of its own.
- A country
- A country's page, shown on each of its site pages that has no site or theme sponsor.
- A region
- One of the five regions, shown across its countries and sites that have no narrower sponsor.
The narrowest sponsorship always wins on a page: site, then theme, then country, then region.
What it does not include
Sponsors have no influence over what we write. They cannot commission, approve or edit text, and a sponsored page is written and checked in exactly the same way as any other.
